營是现代陸軍、海軍陸戰隊等軍種的编制，由若干个连组成。日語及朝鮮漢字等又把此級單位称为大队，約300-800人，中華民國國軍中也有部份單位將「營」稱為大隊，差異僅在編裝較為簡略，另外，主官（中隊長）編階中校的中隊，也視同營級單位。
譬如在三三制的編制下，一個營是由三個連加上直屬單位共同組成。在现代军队编制中，营作为一个战役战术单位，一般用于完成特定战斗中的军事或勤务任务。在编制上通常由多个技术兵种混合编成。
营的指揮官由军官担任，称为营长，军衔一般是中校或者少校。中華民國國軍的營級主官編階都是中校。
在空軍的體系中，中隊與營相當，中隊長軍銜通常是中校。
