  • Holotype: BPBM 38665.

  • Paratypes: BPBM 30630 (1); ZRC 45768 (2); USNM 359477 (2); AMS 1.39906-001 (1); BMNH 2000.1.6.1 (1); CAS 210368 (1); NSMT-P 58835 (1).


Type locality: Yanutha Reef, southern end of No Name Pass, ocean side, 18°24'30"S, 177°56'E [1], Fiji, depth 37-46 meters.


Etymology: This species is named in honor of Bruce A. Carlson who collected the first specimen in Fiji in 1985, suspected it was undescribed, and provided a detailed colour description.
