阿克伦（Akron）位于美国俄亥俄州东北部凯霍加河畔，是萨米特县的县治所在，人口约22万（2000年），按人口數可視為該州的第五大城。阿克倫位於五大湖地區中伊利湖的南方約63公里處。
歷史
阿克伦的最早有人居住的記載是1811年，而此市是在1825年才正式成立。當時有大批愛爾蘭裔移民在此定居。在十九世紀中期，由於運河的開通，該城工業開始興起。1883年，第一家玩具廠成立；1895年，阿克倫第一條對外鐵路通車；1898年，固特異第一家工廠於阿克倫設立；1900年凡士通輪胎公司成立。於是輪胎工業成為阿克倫的標誌。
在1910年代，阿克倫成為全美國人口增長最快的城市，為201.8%；而其中又有三分之一的人口是歐洲移民。
經濟
美國許多產業崛起於此地，或受此地影響。20世紀初，以輪胎及橡膠產業起家，凡舉Goodrich、泛世通、General Tire和The Kelly-Springfield Tire Company合併的固特異等和橡膠有關的企業皆聚集於此，使得阿克倫市得到「世界橡膠首都」的美譽。隨著二十世紀末，阿克倫工業衰落，大量輪胎、橡膠企業遷離，至1990年代末，僅剩下固特異一家留下。

1999年時，阿克倫被莫根·奎特诺出版公司的第七屆名單列為第94危險的城市以及第229安全的城市。初步統計俄亥俄州的惡性攻擊案在2007年時上升了45%。阿克倫遂成為美國第一個訓練警官使用牆角槍來協助打擊犯罪的城市。該市也是全美國第一個採用警察車輛來協助警察辦案的城市。
甲基安非他命史
阿克倫市甲基安非他命的不當分配與濫用使得薩米特郡得到「俄亥俄州甲基首都」的惡名。1990年代時，曾有摩托車幫派「Hells Angels」的成員頻繁地在此地的酒館販售毒品。
