芒草（学名：Miscanthus）是各種芒屬或芒草屬植物的統稱，含有約15到20個物種，屬禾本科。原生於非洲與亞洲的亞熱帶與熱帶地區。其中一個物種中國芒（M. sinensis）的生長範圍延伸到了溫帶亞洲，包括日本與韓國。


一部分的芒屬植物，如中國芒與巨芒（M. giganteus，又名大象草），被應用來作能源作物，以生產生物燃料，主要為酒精。也有一些芒草培養用來作為觀賞植物。更多則以雜草的形式，生存於野外或人工設施周圍。

    • 台灣地區普遍稱芒草為芒花，而當地常見芒草品種共四種，包括五節芒（Miscanthus floridulus）、白背芒（Miscanthus sinensis var. glaber）、臺灣芒（Miscanthus sinensis var. formosanus）及高山芒（Miscanthus sinensis var. transmorrisonensis），秋天欣賞芒花一般指的是白背芒。[4]
