陈鸣远字鸣远，号鹤峰，又号石霞山人。清代荆溪（今江苏宜兴）人。
出生于紫砂世家，陳子畦之子，生卒年不詳。[1]康熙年间制陶名师，作品常被官宦以高价收藏，[2]與供春、時大彬齊名，時稱“宮中艷說大彬壼，海外競求鳴遠碟”。其作品“紫砂菱花式壶”现藏于北京艺术博物馆。
[1]陳鳴遠（1622—1735）字鳴遠，號鶴峰，又號石霞山人、壺隱。清康熙年間宜興陶藝巨匠，為時大彬（（1573—1648）之後一代大師。在紫砂藝史上，陳鳴遠被認為是技藝最為全面的大師，博古、壺杯、象生文玩等，無所不能，無所不精。他上承明代精萃，承繼供春與時大彬的紫砂正統地位，下啟清代新局，影響深遠，其藝術成就實已超出壺藝的層次，成為紫砂藝術的新典範，在紫砂藝苑中有著不朽的地位。

^ 徐秀棠《中国紫砂》考證：“陈鸣远大约生于康熙十九年(1680年)”。康熙二十五年（1686）徐喈鳳成書的《宜興縣志》记载陈氏“其年虽未老，而特为表之。”清初詩人金张著《介老编年诗抄》十三卷，其中写给陈鸣远的诗最早繫年於康熙二十四年（1686年）的“赠陈鸣远”诗，可見陳氏生年應該在順治年間。揚名日本的“浴后妃子壶”，底镌有“丁未杏月”字樣，則為康熙六年（1667年）所製，則陳氏之生年或可推至崇禎末年。
